Large Insulated Shop Gets a Black, White and Gray Full-Flake Epoxy Floor

This Twin Lakes Epoxy project was a large shop with spray-foam insulated walls and a bare concrete floor. The customer’s name and exact location are not published here. This write-up describes only what the photos show and how our standard process applies to a floor like this.

The starting point

The first photo shows a large shop interior with bare concrete that has already been ground, spray-foam insulated walls and the grinder still on the floor. A big open slab like this is a good candidate for a flake system, because the flake hides small marks and the seamless surface makes sweeping and mopping simple.

Preparation with a diamond grinder

The second photo shows the control panel of a floor grinder on the bare concrete. Mechanical diamond grinding opens the surface of the slab so the coating can bond, and it removes paint, sealers and surface contamination. On a floor this size, grinding is the bulk of the preparation. Cracks and joints are evaluated and repaired as scoped before the coating goes down.

The finished floor

The completed floor uses a black, white and gray decorative flake blend with a glossy finish that reflects the overhead lights. The wide photo shows the continuous, seamless surface across the shop, and the low-angle photo shows the depth of the gloss. Our usual installation uses a slower-cure system, typically about two and a half days, and the written scope for each job sets the actual schedule.

What this means for your shop

If you are planning a shop, barn or large garage in the Mountain Home area, the same steps apply: an on-site inspection, diamond grinding, crack repair, a flake-broadcast coating and a protective topcoat. Equipment must be cleared from the work area because we do not move fixed or heavy machinery. Call Mary to schedule a free estimate.
